Constant issues using external microphones

Using this app for live music performances is impossible unless you the built in mic on your phone or use a computer. Audio only works about 25% of the time. When it does work its distorted or will stop working after a minute or two. Ive had no issues at all using the same set up for FB live, Ustream or YouTube live. @PeriscopeHelp was no help at all. The audio problem is inherent in the program code. Nothing but frustration.
